  Yes, but wouldn;t a modern lifeboat be preferable to a 50 year old &lt;br&gt; design? We need to upgrade at some point, why not now? The shuttle &lt;br&gt; is fork-tender - its a new era in US space travel and relying on that &lt;br&gt; rickety old Soviet ball in an emergency doesn&#39;t mesh with fielding a &lt;br&gt; brand new generation of heavy lift vehicle for the push towards a moon

  <description>
  Looking at a bin full of dead props at a marina and being told how &lt;br&gt; cavitation scours paint from them, it occurred to me that one might be &lt;br&gt; able to use cavitation effects to clean underwater structures. Use a &lt;br&gt; sound transducer to cause cavitaion bubbles and direct them toward a &lt;br&gt; close surface and they collapse and scour it clean. Thoughts?

After seeing the primitive &lt;br&gt; props on the ironclad wrecks at the Museum in Columbus, GA, I can &lt;br&gt; imagine Alabama&#39;s was an ungainly thing. How common was this in ships &lt;br&gt; of that era?
