Suggestion...
Suggestion... Wouldn't a simple solution to the AGW controversy be to dispose of anyone who needs an antiperspirant ?:-) ...Jim Thompson

Circuit to output difference in temperature between two thermistors
Im sure this has been done before, right? Two NTC thermistors. 10k @ 25C Beta = 3380 I'd like a circuit which outputs a voltage which is the difference in temperature between the two resistors. But it needs to be linear. I.e. 1 degree difference = 0.1V 10 degree difference = 1V 100 degree difference = 10V... more »

How are computer games reading potentiometers now?
Someone asked me about designing something to read two potentiometers to provide input to his custom program running on a Windows machine. But why re-invent the wheel? What is the state-of-the-art now for computer games and other things like flight simulators reading pots? Used to be you just insured that the user had a game port board... more »

Bypassing
We recently did a GHz bandwidth optical/electrical converter, and used a THS4303 output opamp. Per some appnote or something, the designer bypassed each supply rail with one 0.1 uF 0603 and one 47 pF 0402. The step response rings like hell, and the fix is to replace the 0402's with bigger (like, another 0.1 uF) caps.... more »

Video Switch IC for component video (not composite!)
Hi Can anyone recommend a good video switch IC, or chipset, for switching Component (YPbPr) video? Something which could build, say, a 4 x 1 matrix would be good. TIA.

OT: The Coronation
So, when they install Barry Christ as our new Commissar, do you suppose he'll walk across the reflecting pool on his way to the Oval Office? Hey! He's the first President Barry since Goldwater! ;-P Cheers! Rich

Water detection cable
Does anyone know who manufactures those water sensor cables that are placed on the floors of datacenters? I've seen the ones that have two wires in them, although these wires appear to be more like very thin steel-looking cables of some sort. Each of those wires has sort of a cloth jacket and then the two jacketed wires are covered with a... more »

Space Aliens take a dislike for wind turbines !
One saw orangey-yellow spheres skimming across the sky. Another reported a 'massive ball of light' with 'tentacles going right down to the ground'. Then witnesses told of an earsplitting bang at 4am. Come dawn and the plot thickens. At the nearby wind farm one of the 60ft blades from a 200ft turbine was... more »
