Source of compresed air
I find the need for a small jet of compressed air to blow out chips etc from time to time. I am thus looking for a source of compressed air to which some sort of air gun can be attached. It has to satisfy three requirements: 1) It has to be cheap, 2) It has to take up little or no space, 3) It has to be cheap,... more »

Request for recommendation for self locking nuts with highest resistance to removal
Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone having experience with self locking nuts can help me with the following. At mcmaster.com I found four types of self locking nuts I can use on a 1/4-28 thread bolt. I just want to snug the nut down on the bolt to take up any linear or axial play, but I'm not going to really torque... more »

Goodbye
I have decided it isn't worth the migraines to read or reply in this newsgroup. Apparently some of the bottom feeders think it's funny to suddenly lose your eyesight. I don't care anymore. Have fun, and if there are any typos, Ed can stick then up his ass. I have another long trip to the VA hospital on Monaday about my eye,... more »

OT: Economy Indicator
There seems to be some debate whether the economy is doing badly or not. Some people are saying it's pretty good and they seem to base this on the fact that either they or someone they know are doing well. I go by the leading economic indicators myself. Today it came out that the June numbers for home sales was at a ten year low. Then it was revealed that of the homes... more »

Gear hob relieving device video long
For several years now I have been trying to make my own gear cutting hobs. The Eureka relieving device shown in Workshop Practice Series 17 is what I started with. They started with a picture of the Balzer device and reverse engineered it. I followed the plans closely because I had no idea how it worked.... more »

Cleaning up worn 3 jaw lathe chuck ??
I looking for some advice on how to improve my lathes 3 jaw chuck. Without going out to the workshop to measure it, it's about 7" or 8" diameter. The jaws are worn and when small diameter work is fitted it is a off centre by ~0.020". Looking at the jaws I can see where they are flogged out a little, particulary the outermost 10mm or so.... more »
