About thirty something years ago, I read somewhere in an auto magazine
that some of those stopleak additives have shellac in them. They might
work ok for a while, untill the shellac starts drying out.
I wouldn't trust any of those ''snake oils''.
cuhulin

Well, I could tell you BUT......
I have more than a few links to "unknown" spec lists. They come in handy
some days.
Make sure you actually follow the instructions when you check the specs.
And don't try to mix/match specs from different companies. I have seen
at least 4 different ride height charts with various locations used.

As the OP I thank you guys for your comments and
speculation. Let me try to focus the responses a bit.
First, I don't think the diameter of the gas pump
nozzle or the gas can nozzle is the issue - the problem
I'm concerned about is the length. The Ford website I
consulted implied that the gas pump nozzle goes

I wouldn't call it a "screech", but more a moaning sound. It's very
much a hydraulic pump sound, not like a belt slipping or a pressure
relief valve (like when you turn the wheel all the way). I hear
similar sounds from other hydraulic action, like backhoes and bucket
loaders and things. The sound is matched to engine RPM, and if this

I think this could very well be the case. My 2001 camry sometimes
'over does it' when I put it on cruise. I'm not 77 and I haven't been
dealing with GM aggravation all my life so I know what to do.. But it
does get carried away sometimes. She was 77. Agreed. The current Ford system is definitely "far out." Since the
current generation of gas cans has a nozzle specifically designed to
fit like the filler nozzle on the pump, I don't see that it would be
any issue. "Totally wicked" quick-fill systems should function in a
"groovy way" with the modern cans.

My 67 Barracuda had a quick-fill chrome cap that you opened by pressing
on the release on the side and flipped it open. That was certainly "
"boss." My mother 70 Barracuda had the filler located behind the spring
loaded license plate holder. That was "not too cool." I'm glad that
they're trying to make gimmicky gas fillers again.
