I don't _think_ I did that. I've answered YASIDs for stories I wrote,
and at least once failed to recognize one of my stories from someone
else's description, but I don't believe I've ever asked for an ID that
turned out to be one of my own stories.

Could, and it's delightful, but I think the book in question is Prostho
Plus, an early one by Piers Anthony. Protagonist's sort of a
dentist-to-the-animals, who expands his practice, rather involuntarily,
to aliens. IIRC it's a series of only semi-connected chapters that
trails off badly and then just...ends, very suddenly.

FWIW, on Graham Norton tonight Eddie Izzard couldn't remember the name
of the character he portrayed in "Valkyrie".
Now I don't feel so bad about my inability to remember things.

God yes, that has happened about 1/4 of the time when I submit YASID
posts. It's truly embarrassing. They are usually short stories that
are part of a collection I all I needed was the name of the collection.
I use one of those "library" programs on my Mac but usually collections
