I am attempting to load data from an XML file (because I may end up
having over a thousand points on my map) and at the same time use the
sidebar highlighting function.

Something changed. Your onload function is not being called (test it
by typing "javascript:onLoad()" in the browser bar). I suspect you
have add something that is overriding the body onload event.

Found it!

The overviewMapControl seems to fire an error on 3D map type (for
GMaps API V2.184):
map.addControl(new google.maps.OverviewMapControl ());

It works great now!

I have three notes/suggestions to HTTP geocoding service.

When querying google maps geocoding api via HTTP request for "Estonia"
or "Tallinn" ([link]), the response
only returns "CountryNameCode: EE", but does not return "CountryName"

The easy way to achieve that effect is to use zoom levels 13 to 17
rather than zoom levels 1 to 4. Display blank tiles outside the visible
region. Technically things do still wrap, but the user only perceives
the effect if they drag the map sideways through 2048 screenwidths.

You don't get control of the cursor when dragging a marker, but you
could write your own dragCrossImage crosshairs if you don't like the
Google ones.

Also, draggable markers only ever drag with the left mouse button.

So I think you're out of luck with that.

OK, I understand. On the other hand, the right click should be like a
hidden feature addressed to an advanced user (and a changing cursor on
mousedown is not so rare). Normally he wants to drag the whole map as
