Excerpt:
"Lord Birt said the BBC must “loosen the stranglehold” of established
religious organisations and “embrace” the humanist movement.
He spoke in debate held in the Moses Room at the House of Lords on the eve
of the BBC Trust’s deliberations on whether to allow non-religious
contributors to the Today programme’s religious slot.
Secularists claim the three minute slot – which is only open to
representatives from the main faiths – discriminates against non-believers.
They have complained to the Trust, the governing arm of the corporation,
which is expected to deliver its response next week."

thanks for reminding me, i have the Today Show on every morning. I
usually mentally switch off (unless im laughing at some barely
educated theist explaining where the economists are exactly going
wrong).
The Thinkee is usually introduced as rev/nun/monk so-and-so from
<insert religious institution> but the day before yesterday it was
just "some bloke".
i remember thinking at the time to look into it.

I figured that it would be of particular interest to you because I vaguely
recall you mentioning it once and objecting to the fact that they didn't
include atheists.
Looks like some change is in the winds and a good one :-)

Hi Doris,
I think (not sure) that the idea is that different atheists will be given
the slot to speak.

Lol. She does have a point. I was actually pleasantly surprised at this
comment.
Given the fact that Doris realizes that we all have different beliefs unlike
most theists who think we're a monolith of some sort and therefore a
"religion".
That makes Doris a lot smarter than a lot of theists.

This is a litmus test:
You will say
If you love me.
I know you're not stupid,
But his reign
Comes to an end ... (end!)
So long I waited.
You pretended that you loved me,
Smile and even sang,
Pretending to like me!

I thought a long time these crazy Christians who say that a self-
existing and self-created everything intelligently.
The Christian logic is the logic that generates cienciologia
cienciologia understandings and understandings.
But now I am born an atheist, I do not believe in giving the
cienciologia by cienciologia, this is crap they put the bible in the
minds of believers.
Now I am an atheist, I believe in nature, the chance spontaneously
generating intelligent life on earth.
The animals, birds, etc, etc, etc, came out of nowhere, or rather, a
bacterium stood out more than the others and evolved, YADA, YADA,
YADA. (You know there as)
The universe came around, out of nowhere too, all its order due to the
astronomical random because God does not exist.
Issac Newton said, "every reaction proceeds from an action."
Fuck Issac, that's nonsense!
I believe that came out of nowhere, the occasional no intecionalidade.
Okay that believers will I fill the bag saying everything evolves and
intelligence second hand, (cars, computers, HVAC medical ,...) but I
like a good atheist, ignore that nonsense and go steady.

Is there a follow up to this? A specific ruling from the "Trust"?

It helps if you read the article.
"Former head of BBC calls for atheists on Radio 4 God Slot
Lord Birt, the former Director General of the BBC, has called for atheists
to contribute to Radio 4's Thought for the day."

Trance: would you please put these as you hear them on this site, so we can
see what Atheists are saying or what their thought for the day is?

It's a radio show Thea so I doubt it unless they offer podcasts in which
case you would need to download them directly.
You could check the BBC web site to see if they offer podcasts if you're
interested.
