If you use an advertisements blocking programme you can filter out the
background images but the unfortunate dark grey colour remains.

I spent an hour today trying to remove the mountains on the Gmail
homepage, thinking I was the one who somehow got it there by playing
with the themes. I can't stand it! And I echo Sylvia's sentiments on
readability. It's driving me crazy.

Thanks, everyone, for clearing this up.

I really hope Gmail allows us to toggle that picture off.

When I sign out, even with the "Remember me..." box unchecked, my
logon and password are still there when I next log on to Gmail. How
do I make sure I am completely logged out, as this computer is used be
several people?

last week at work i stopped being able to log in using standard view,
could only do basic html...this was a pain, but i thought it was just
the computer at work. Then today, someone at work told me they had the
same issue with gmail, but at home, all of a sudden. I tried both IE
and firefox, no change. Well tonihgt, i clicked on a link for themes,

Hello. I am sorry for your loss. I'm not sure how much help I can
be, but I'll try.

First off, in a text editor (Notepad will do) type your username and
then what you believe to be your password. Do they look right to you?
If so, go ahead and open Gmail using this link: [link]

Your username is what is to the left of @gmail.com You can see what
your Gmail address is on this screen. Look at the top right, just to
the left of 'My Groups | Favorites ...

If you cannot sign in with the username, click 'I cannot access my
account' just under the password blank.

USERNAME question

I feel very silly, but I don't remember what my username is. I have a
website name and created an email account for it at

So is my correct USERNAME [email address] OR info. I have

Susanne, I would ask him for the following info:

Can he copy and paste the link into the address bar instead of
clicking on it.
If he still gets a blank page, click refresh to reload the page
Has he cleared his web browser cookies and cache (junk accumulates
there that may be holding him back)

I'm glad some of you are enjoying our jazzed up sign in page, but for
those of you who aren't, never fear - it's only temporary. We're just
giving people a taste of the new set of themes.

You don't need to take any corrective action; we'll go back to the
simple, classic sign in page before too long.
